The Hastings Baptist Church was established in 1910, so it was an honour to be tasked with its official branding in 2014. The church already had the benefit of being located in a central and visible part of town, but it had no unique visual identification—which is the sole function of a logo.
THBC wanted to communicate values of ‘stability and sound biblical teaching’, so these were factored into the design decisions behind form and colour choices in their new logo.
Exterior signage wasn’t placed until building refurbishment in 2017, well after the new branding had been successfully rolled out in their web presence and print materials (see examples here). I considered traffic speeds, durations of sign readability, and angles of visibility to calculate the appropriate placements and minimum sizes for each sign, then worked with a local signage company to see it placed as intended.
